The Executive Committee of the European University Sports Association (EUSA) met yesterday for an extraordinary online meeting, discussing the worsening situation and humanitarian crisis in Ukraine.
EUSA Executive Committee strongly condemns the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the supporting role played by Belarus.
EUSA established the EUSA Solidarity Fund, dedicated exclusively to support the National University Sports Association of Ukraine. EUSA will contribute 20.000 EUR to the fund, which represents all the funds reserved for the development support to its members for 2022. The EUSA Executive Committee asks the member federations and entire university sports community in Europe to contribute to the EUSA Solidary Fund.
Following the recommendations by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and actions of other organisations, including the European Olympic Committees (EOC), European University Association (EUA), International University Sports Federation (FISU) and others, several sanctions have also been imposed, with immediate effect:
The universities from Russia and Belarus and the representatives of the National University Sports Associations from Russia and Belarus are suspended from all the EUSA events until further notice.
No EUSA events will be organised in Russia and Belarus until further notice.
The Members of EUSA Committees, Commissions and Working Groups from Russia and Belarus will not be called upon for future EUSA meetings and activities.
EUSA Executive Committee will closely monitor the situation in Ukraine and will take additional sanctions, if required.
We remain in solidarity with Ukraine. We recognise and encourage activities of national university sports bodies, event organisers, universities and individuals who carry out various campaigns and activities, offering humanitarian support to the people in Ukraine affected by the war.
KĻŪSTI PAR SELL STUDENTU SPĒĻU BRĪVPRĀTĪGO
Līdz XXXVII SELL studentu spēļu sākumam atlikuši vien daži mēneši, un jau tagad zinām, ka bez tevis - brīvprātīgā - šis vērienīgais sporta pasākums nebūs iespējams! 2017.gadā SELL studentu spēlēs no 15 pasaules valstīm piedalījās ap 1500 dalībnieku, kas nozīmē tikai vienu - jauni draugi, jauna pieredze, jaunas iespējas.
Šogad studenti spēkus samēros 15 sporta veidos, no kuriem lielākā daļa norisināsies Rīgā esošajās sporta būvēs.
